القصة تأخذنا “قصة حبيب وندي” في رحلة مليئة بالمغامرات والتحديات التي تواجه طفلين صغيرين في غابة مظلمة. تبدأ الحكاية عندما تحاول خالة الأطفال، بسبب نقص الطعام، إقناع والدهم الحطاب بإرسالهم إلى الغابة للتخلص منهم. بحذر، يستمع حبيب إلى خطة خالته ويقرر جمع الحصى ليستخدمه كعلامات دالة على الطريق. في اليوم التالي، ينطلق الجميع إلى الغابة، وحينما تُشعل النار، يترك الحطاب وزوجته الأطفال وحيدين. لكن بفضل الحصى الذي جمعه حبيب، يتمكن الأطفال من العودة إلى البيت. في المرة الثانية، يستخدم حبيب فتات الخبز كعلامات دالة، ولكن الطيور تأكل الفتات، مما يتسبب في ضياع الأطفال في الغابة. وأثناء بحثهم عن الطريق، يصلان إلى بيت مصنوع من البسكويت والحلوى، لكن سرعان ما يدركان أن هذا البيت هو فخ، حيث تقوم جنية شريرة بحبس حبيب ومحاولة استخدامه لأغراضها الشريرة. من خلال ذكاء ندي وشجاعتها، تتمكن من خداع الجنية ودفعها إلى النار، مما ينقذ حياتهما. في النهاية، يكتشف الأطفال كنزًا من الذهب والجواهر، ويحملونه معهم عائدين إلى بيتهم حيث يعيشون حياة سعيدة مع والدهم، بينما تترك الخالة البيت للأبد. في القصة نتعلم أهمية
